- On your child asking whether you can teach her/him to sew – “That’s a negative, Ghostrider, the pattern is full.” - Top Gun
- On your child trying to negotiate with you - “Now you’re not foolish enough to think we’re livin’ in a democracy now, do ya buddy?” - Wall Street
- On your child announcing they wish they had someone else’s mum – “My blood is in your veins.” – The Lost Boys
- On your child being rejected by her BFF on the playground – “That happens sometimes – friends come in and out of our lives like busboys in a restaurant.” - Stand by Me
- On pulling rank for, well, whatever reason – “You see, I am the eyes and ears of this institution.” - Breakfast Club
- On life’s education – “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
- On just wanting to flummox the fuck out of your kids – “If only you could see what I’ve seen with your eyes.” – Blade Runner

I love this! Sometimes you just have to amuse yourself by saying things that make you laugh even if your kids have no idea of the reference.
By the way, found your blog because we were both on Mrs D’s list for The Versatile Blogger award.

Thanks Karen! I agree about the amusing yourself thing – I did a couple of others – X-Files quotes and Shakespeare quotes – the X-Files ones do actually get an airing in my house. They go completely over the heads of my kids though. There’s something alarmingly satisfying in that! Kx

Love it! Especially the Top Gun one, that’s classic! And one of my fave movies.
Yeah, that’s my fave as well! Particularly as I’m not crafty. I should use that as my blogger call-sign. Kx
